Good Morning Crafters! I’ve taken a little break from blogging for a couple of weeks because I’ve been especially busy, but I’m looking forward to getting back into it now so I’m back with some lovely new inspiration to share with you! Today’s project is a fortieth birthday card that I made for my brother in law using the Large Numbers Dies. I love these dies as they’re great for big birthdays, kids birthdays, anniversarys, etc.

So, how did I make it?

I started with an 8″x8″ card blank that I had in my crafty stash as I wanted a particularly big card for a special birthday! I cut a piece of Basic Black Cardstock 7 3/4″ x 7 3/4″, and then a piece of the spotty Foiled Window Sheet to 7 1/2″ x 7 1/2″. The Foiled Window Sheets are particularly good because they are foiled with Gold, but if you turn them over the pattern is silver. I used the silver side for this project. I layered the Basic Black onto the card blank, and then the foiled Window sheet on top of that, being careful to just use small amounts of glue behind the spots so that as little as possible shows through.

Cut another piece of Basic Black to 5 1/2″ x 5 1/2″ and a piece of Whisper White to 5 1/4″ x 5 1/4″. Spritz the Whisper White with a little water and then put it through your Bigshot inside the Hexagon Embossing Folder. The embossing folder isn’t big enough to emboss the whole sheet at once, so you then need to move the embossing folder across, making sure that the pattern continues. Add your embossed cardstock on top of your Basic Black piece to the centre of the card.

Cut another piece of Basic Black cardstock measuring 3 1/2″ square, a piece of Silver Foil Sheet measuring 3 1/4″ square, and a final piece of Basic Black measuring 3″ square. Use your Large Numbers dies to cut a 4 and an 0 out of Silver Foil Sheet and use mini foam pads to adhere them to the smallest black square.

To create the balloons, stamp the large dotty balloon shape in versamark ink 3 times and heat emboss it with silver embossing powder. Use the Balloon Bouquet punch to cut the balloons out. Add these to your card as shown in the picture using adhesive foam pads. Finish the card with a mini gift bow.
