Bird Ballad pretty Handmade Floral Card created by UK Stampin' Up Demonstrator Sarah Phelan for Sarah's Stampin' Retreat using the Bird Ballad papers and the Parisian Beauty stamp set from Stampin' Up!

Good Morning Crafters!! I hope you’re getting a little sunshine where you are; I always feel that a little sunshine helps everything seem better! I’m loving seeing signs of spring around at the moment, so I thought that I’d use spring colours to create this gorgeous Handmade Floral card. I’ve combined the stamps from the Parisian Beauty stamp set with the Bird Ballad patterned paper.

Product List

For today’s Sketch Sunday, I’ve decided to go with Freshly Made Sketches again. This is the sketch that makes up their sketch challenge this week, and the card is my interpretation of it. These kind of challenges are so much fun to do as it makes you step outside of your comfort zone to use new layouts.

Tutorial – Bird Ballad Pretty Handmade Floral Card

To create your card blank, score and fold a 5 1/2″ x 11″ piece of Petal Pink Cardstock in half. Then, cut a Basic Black piece at 5 1/4″ square, and a further square of Petal Pink Cardstock measuring at 5 1/8″. These are your matts and layers.

Using Basic Gray ink and the text stamp from the Parisian Beauty Stamp set, stamp all over your Petal Pink layer, using second and third generation stamping (This is where you stamp onto a piece of scrap paper, then use the ink left on the stamp to stamp on your cardstock, creating a less bold effect).

Create a border of Pool Party cardstock and glue this down the right hand side of your Petal Pink square, then glue all of the layers onto your card.

Use the second biggest circle from the Stitched Shapes dies to cut two circles from the Bird Ballad patterned paper, and one from Petal Pink cardstock. Add these to your card, using glue for the two patterned pieces, and Stampin’ Dimensionals (foam pads) for the Petal Pink circle.

To complete the Petal Pink circle, fussy cut some branches and a bird from the Bird ballad paper, and arrange the branches around the outside of the circle, and then use Stampin’ Dimensionals to add the bird to the centre.

Stamp your sentiment from the Parisian Beauty stamp set in Memento Black ink onto Pool Party cardstock, then mount this onto a slightly bigger piece of Basic Black cardstock. Add the sentiment to your card using Stampin’ Dimensionals.

Please note that Stampin’ Up! has just launched a new website, so there is a delay with the company that I use to produce the shopping list for you. Therefore, the below links may take you to the generic Stampin’ Up home page instead of the appropriate product page. If this happens, please put the description shown into the search bar and you should find what you’re looking for. Please accept my apologies for any inconvenience caused.

I hope you enjoyed this project. Click the links below to shop the products used to make it.
