Good Morning Crafters! I hope you have a lovely weekend planned! Have you put aside some crafty time? I had real fun making today’s card – it was one of those where I started out playing and it all came together from there. The Stampin’ Up Spritz bottles are useful for so many things, but today I used them for a spritz background. I also used the beautiful Falling Flowers stamp set – a favourite of mine because the stamps look so modern.

Tutorial – Falling Flowers Spritzed Birthday Card

To create the card blank, score and fold an A5 piece of Berry Burst cardstock in half. Cut a piece of Basic Black Cardstock 1/4″ smaller each way than your card front, and then a piece of Whisper White cardstock 1/8″ smaller than your Basic Black piece.

Use some low tack tape (such as washi tape) to stick your piece of Whisper White cardstock to a craft mat or work surface, making sure that your washi tape is even all the way around (I overlapped the cardstock with the tape by about 1/8″ on each side).

Put a couple of drops of Berry Burst ink from a re-inker into your spritzer and 1/4 fill it with water. Spritz your cardstock with the spray, spraying from different distances to get different sized droplets until you get the coverage you require. I always think that it’s a good idea to have a re-inker for all of your favourite colours on hand. They’re great for ink techniques such as this one, but can also be used to re-ink both your ink pads and your Stampin’ Write Markers.

Once your paper’s dry, stamp one of the flowers in Basic Black ink onto your background. Create a mask for the flower by stamping your image onto a post-it note or masking paper and cutting it out. Place your mask over your flower, then stamp another flower, overlapping the mask that you placed over the first flower. Make another mask for your second flower, then continue stamping and masking your flowers until you have covered your background.

Use your Berry Burst Stampin’ Write Marker to colour the centres of your flowers and pick out some details on the petals. Take your tape off the outsides of your card. This will leave a border that is unprinted. Use a ruler and a journalling pen to draw a border around your stamped images.

Layer your floral background on top of your Basic Black cardstock, then attach this to the card front with Stampin Dimensionals.

Use Versamark ink to stamp the Happy Birthday sentiment from the Butterfly Basics Stamp Set onto Basic Black cardstock. Pour over some White Embossing Powder, tip off the excess, and then heat with your heat tool to melt the granules. Cut the cardstock into a strip close to the top and bottom of your sentiment, then cut a strip of Berry Burst cardstock 1/4″ wider. Glue the black piece on top of the Berry Burst and cut them down to the width of your card. Use Stampin’ Dimensionals to add your sentiment strip to the bottom of your card.
