Good Morning Crafters! Happy Saturday! Do you remember in June I shared a couple of cards using the Watering Cans from the Just Add Colour DSP? If you missed them I’ve included pictures with links to the posts below.
I couldn’t resist getting this Just Add Colour DSP out again and making a third card with ANOTHER watering can! They are just so beautiful; there are a multitude of designs and I couldn’t resist using a different one for this card!
Watch out for more cards using different DSPs from this pack coming along in the next few weeks… I have some feathers coloured and ready to go!
Tutorial – Just Add Colour Handmade Birthday Card
To make today’s card, I started off with a piece of Thick Whisper White cardstock cut down to 10″ x 5″. Score and fold this down the middle to create a card blank. Cut a 4 1/2″ square piece of Berry Burst cardstock to layer on the front of your card, and then another piece of Whisper White measuring 4 1/4″ square to layer on top of that.
Colour a watering can from the Just Add Colour DSP, then colour a butterfly and some of the foliage to match. I used the Berry Burst, Tranquil Tide and Powder Pink from the 2017-2019 In Colour pack of Stampin’ Write Markers and then Smokey Slate and Basic Grey from the Neutrals Pack. You then need to fussy cut the elements that you’ve coloured. You could use any scissors, but I love the paper snips because they’re so sharp with really sharp points at the ends, so they’re lovely to cut with – they’re definitely my favourites!
To give a professional finish, run the black Stampin’ Write marker from your neutrals pack around the edge of your fussy cut elements. This will tidy up the edges and give a beautiful finish.
Decide where you want the embellishments to go on your card, then stamp the Happy Birthday sentiment from the Butterfly Basics stamp set in Berry Burst ink above it. Next, with your Basics Pack 1 of washi tape, tear off a piece of the thin dotty washi tape and lay it at the bottom of your card, and then lay a piece of the cross hatch washi tape along the top edge. Finish the card off by adding the watering can raised up on Stampin’ Dimensionals and stick the butterfly on the handle and a flower and some foliage around the bottom.
I love this card and you could make sooo many of these with just one sheet of the Watering Can DSP and you get two of this design in the Just Add Colour pack (as well as 2 each of 5 other designs!).
I hope you enjoyed this project. Click the links below to shop the products used to make it.
