Good Morning Crafters! Today’s card uses the beautiful Hometown Greetings Dies. It’s not super quick to make because of the paper piecing, but I love the effect and I like to do things like paper piecing in front of the TV of an evening as I like something to keep my hands busy!
To create the card base, score and fold an 11″ x 5 1/2″ piece of Thick Whisper White cardstock in half. Cut a piece of Night of Navy cardstock to 5 1/4″ square and a piece of Whisper White cardstock to 5″ square.
Use the largest of your layering squares dies to cut a square from the centre of your 5″ square piece of Whisper White, then stamp the “Enjoy the Warmth of the Season” sentiment from the Hearts come Home stamp set in Crumb Cake ink in the right hand corner. If you don’t own this stamp set you could of course use any wintery greeting, but if you want to buy the bundle you save 10% vs. buying the dies and the stamps separately!
Use the die with the large houses to cut out some Whisper White cardstock and some Crumb Cake cardstock, leaving about 1 inch under the houses on the Whisper White piece. Trim up the sides of the Whisper White piece to release the die cut from the cardstock, making sure that you keep all of the “waste” pieces from the die cut. Trim along the line of the hill on the Crumb Cake piece, cutting the houses and the tree away from the base. Cover the backs of the houses in Tear and Tape, making sure to cover all of the holes cut for the windows, doors etc. Stick the Crumb Cake tree and houses over the Whisper White ones, then stick all of your “waste” from the Whisper White die cuts into the gaps in the Crumbcake houses.
Cut a tree from Garden Green cardstock. Cut the trunk off and glue it onto the Crumb Cake tree.
Use a fine tipped glue pen to draw drifts on your snow bank and cover it in Dazzling Diamonds glitter. Also, dot glue over the Night of Navy square of cardstock and tip Dazzling Diamonds glitter on this also to create a snow effect.
Stick the Night of Navy cardstock to the card base. Use Stampin’ Dimensionals to add your houses to your card front. Use more Stampin’ Dimensionals to add your Whisper White frame on top of this. You will need to double up the Stampin’ Dimensionals at the top of the frame to ensure it’s level with the bottom.
