Hi Crafters, and welcome to today’s project! I love a bit of colouring so I just HAD to have the lovely Just Add Colour paper from Stampin’ Up. The Watering Can and flowers on this card are all coloured with Stampin’ Write Markers and fussy cut out. There are 6 different paper designs in the pack and you get two sheets of each! I counted 21 watering cans on the sheet I used and there are LOADS of flowers and butterflies in between, so you can make sooo many cards just from one sheet!
Tutorial – Just Add Colour Birthday Card
To create today’s card, first colour in a watering can of your choice and some of the flowers and leaves surrounding it with your Stampin’ Write Markers. I used the Smokey Slate and Basic Grey markers from the Neutrals pack for the greys on the watering can, and then Pool Party from the Subtles Pack and the Flirty Flamingo from the 2016-2018 Pack for the bulk of the patterns and embellishments. I then finished off with a little Sweet Sugarplum and Peekaboo Peach (also from the 2016-2018 pack) for the detailing.
Cut your coloured pieces out with your Paper Snips (I would definitely recommend these – they’re great scissors, perfect for getting into the details). To give a professional finish, run the edge of your Basic Black marker along the edges of your cut-out pieces.
To create your card base, cut a 12″ square piece of Crumb Cake cardstock in half, then score and fold this in half again to create a 6″ x 6″ card. Use your second largest Circle Layering Framelit die to cut a hole in the centre of the front of your card. Next, cut a piece of the White paper from the Wood Textures Designer Series Paper Stack down to 5 3/4″ square. Place this inside your card and use a pencil to draw the circle from the front of your card onto your wood grain paper.
Take your largest Circle Layering Framelit Die and lay it over the wood grain paper so that it surrounds the pencil circle evenly. Run this through your Bigshot to cut the circle. Doing this process ensures that your woodgrain paper will sit nicely around the circle on the front of your card.
Adhere the die cut woodgrain paper to the front of your card using Fast Fuse Adhesive. Then, cut another piece of the same paper to 5 1/2″ square. Lightly trace the circle through onto this piece. Stamp the Happy Birthday sentiment from the Butterfly Basics stamp set in the centre of your circle, then rub the pencil line out. Stick this piece of paper to the inside of your card.
Stick the watering can and some of your flowers and leaves from your Just Add Colour DSP to the outside of your card, using a mix of glue and Stampin’ Dimensionals to create dimension. Then, stick a flower and a few leaves to the inside of your card within the circle aperture to complete your card.
The centre of your card will then look like this:
