Good Morning Crafters!! I hope your week’s going well? This morning I’m sharing a cute New Baby card made using the Little Elephant bundle. I love this cute little set and have combined it with the Swirly Frames stamp set to create the focal point of the card. I think it would look equally nice in pale yellows, greens or blues instead of pinks depending on which colours you think your recipient would prefer – or if you make your cards to sell, why not do a selection of colours – it’s a pretty simple card to make!!
To create your card blank, score and fold a 10″ x 5″ piece of Powder Pink cardstock in half. Cut a piece of the Smokey Slate stripey Neutrals DSP 1/4″ smaller than your card front and add it to the front of your card.
Stamp your sentiment (I used “Hello Little One”) in Smokey Slate ink onto a scrap of Whisper White cardstock, and then stamp the square swirly frame around it. Next, stamp the large circle swirly frame and cut both the square and the circle out using the layering framelit dies that fit around them.
Note: If you don’t have some sort of layering dies I would really recommend them – I use some sort of layering shape on most of my cards. If you’re at the beginning of your die-cutting journey I would actually recommend the stitched shapes framelit dies as they have squares, circles and ovals in the set, but if you’re looking to branch out so that you have more of a range of sizes of each shape, I would recommend getting the Layering Circle Dies first – the circles are the shape that I think a lot of people use the most for their cardmaking, and it’s a very difficult shape to accurately cut out using any other method.
Add the circle to your card towards the top left corner, then add your sentiment square towards the opposite corner using Stampin’ Dimensionals, layering it a little over the circle.
To create your elephant, use the Elephant Builder Punch to cut the larger elephant from Powder Pink cardstock, the eye from Basic Gray cardstock, and the ear from a scrap of the Neutrals DSP left over from the piece that you used to decorate the front of your card. Add the eye and the ear to your elephant, using a Stampin’ Dimensional to add the ear to create some height.
Stamp the hearts from your Little Elephant stamp set in powder pink ink just above where you want your elephant’s trunk to go, then use Stampin’ Dimensionals to add your elephant and complete your card!!
