Seasonal Sunday – Carols of Christmas

Good Morning Crafters! Have you seen the new pre-release of Christmas Crafting Goodies from Stampin’ Up Yet? The full Christmas catalogue is released next month, but they have released a beautiful bundle called Carols of Christmas early and I have been loving playing with it! For the next couple of months I am swapping the usual Sketch Sunday feature to a Seasonal Sunday feature, so I will be sharing a Christmas project every Sunday for those of you who want to get ahead with your Christmas preparations. You can buy the stamps and the dies separately, but as always the best value is in the bundle as you save 10% versus buying the stamps and dies separately.

Carols Of Christmas Clear-Mount Bundle 146037 Price: £40.50

I made today’s card project with a group of people who had done very little card making before (some had never made a card!) and they all really enjoyed it and said they couldn’t believe how professional the finish was. But it’s all down to these beautiful stamps and dies!

Tutorial – Carols of Christmas Card

To make the card blank I cut a piece of Thick Whisper White cardstock to 11″ x 5 1/2″ and scored and folded it down the middle. Next, I cut a piece of silver foil sheet to 5 1/4″ square, and a piece of Night of Navy Cardstock to 5″ square.

Use a the corner dies to cut the flowers from the corners of the Night of Navy cardstock. You get two corner dies so you will get a symmetrical look and you can do all 4 corners with only two passes through your Bigshot!

Stamp the “Deck the Halls! sentiment from the stamp set onto Whisper White Cardstock in Versamark ink. Pour over your Silver Embossing Powder and then pour the excess back into the pot. Heat it with your Heat Tool to melt the powder and get the beautiful silver embossed effect.

Use the largest stitched square framelit die to cut the sentiment out.

I have to say that if you’ve not yet got the Stitched Shape Framelit dies I would really recommend them. You get a selection of squares, circles and ovals in the set and I use them on many of the cards I make as the stitched detailing gives a really beautiful professional finish.

To create the silver foil layer under your die-cut sentiment, you could cut a piece of Silver Foil Sheet to 1/4″ bigger than your stitched square, but if you have the layering square framelit dies, why not use the one that is one size bigger than your stitched square framelit and cut a square out of the centre of the 5 1/4” Silver Foil Square you created earlier? You will cover it up with the the Night of Navy cardstock so nobody will ever know, and it saves paper!

Layer Up your card as in the picture, using Stampin’ Dimensionals to adhere your Deck the Halls topper on and give it a bit of dimension.

I hope you enjoyed this project. Click the links below to shop the products used to make it.
