Happy Easter!! I’m making the most of the long weekend and doing lots of crafting (and a bit of spring cleaning too!). Today’s Sketch Sunday project uses the lovely Cupcakes & Carousels suite from the Spring/Summer catalogue. This is one of the sets that will retire when the new catalogue comes out, so if you want yours then make sure you get it before stocks run out! The good news though is that the paper pack is now even more of a bargain at only £6.30 for 48 double sided sheets!
Today’s sketch comes from Scrapbook.com. It makes for a really simple card but I hope you’ll agree it’s really effective!
Instructions
To make this card, the first thing to do is to stamp the carousel horse from the Cupcakes & Carousels stamp set onto Very Vanilla paper. Next, colour it using Stampin’ Write markers – I used Smokey Slate, Bermuda Bay, Calypso Coral and So Saffron to tie into the card. Use the second largest Stitched Circle Framelit die to cut around the image, and cut a piece of Calypso Coral cardstock using the scalloped circle that fits around it from the Layering Framelit Dies. It is a bit of an investment to buy both the Layering Circle Framelits and the Stitched Shapes Framelits but I use them all the time and they finish cards off really nicely.
To create the card base, score an A5 piece of Calypso Coral cardstock down the middle of the long side and fold in half. Cut a piece of the Big Wheel paper from the Cupcakes & Carousels Designer Series Paper Stack down to be 1/4″ smaller than your card front in each direction. Cut an inch strip of the So Saffron paper from the same pack and use the Triple Banner Punch to trim the end into a banner. Stamp the Birthday sentiment from the Stamp Set onto the banner and then build up your card using all of your pieces. My favourite glue for layering is Fast Fuse for a strong adherence and I popped up the Carousel Horse topper with some Stampin’ Dimensionals.
I love how pretty this set is! I hope you enjoyed this project – if you want to shop for any of the products used, please click on the pictures below to go to the store.
