Hi All, and Happy Sunday!! I hope you’re having a lovely weekend. Today’s Sketch Sunday project uses the Jar of Love Bundle and the Serene Scenery Designer Series Paper from Stampin’ Up. The jar of love bundle is so much fun – it has 3 different jars, and then a multitude of things to put in them. I used the flowers for today’s card but I can’t wait to make one using the little fireflies!
Today’s sketch comes from MFT. I just used my jar of flowers in place of the circle. That’s the great thing about sketches – you can use it as a base and then take it wherever you creativity wants to!
To make the card, start with a card blank created from an A5 piece of Thick Whisper White cardstock scored down the middle. Put a 1″ strip of Melon Mambo Designer series paper down the left hand side (the paper I used is from the Brights Designer Series Paper which has unfortunately sold out since I made this, but if you don’t have this paper stack you could use something else; there are lots of lovely patterns in this colour in the Pop of Pink DSP pack). Overlap your DSP slightly with a thin strip of Melon Mambo Cardstock, then cover the rest of the card with the wooden flooring DSP from the Serene Scenery pack. I love how the bright paper contrasts so nicely with the muted Serene Scenery DSP!
To create the jar, stamp the largest jar from the stamp set in Basic Black ink onto Vellum. Cut this out with the coordinating die and then use the water stamp to stamp the back of the jar with Soft Sky ink. Use Fast Fuse to fix this in place onto your card, but only at the bottom of the jar which will be covered with the banner. Next, stamp the stem, and the stem with the leaves on several times onto Whisper White cardstock with Garden Green ink. Stamp a variety of the flowers in Melon Mambo, and then stamp the second stage stamps for the flowers on top, also in Melon Mambo to create more depth. Cut out the stems and flowers with the coordinating dies.
Build up your bunch of flowers on your card, putting the stems down first, arranging and sticking them behind the jar, and then arranging the flowers over the top. Use a mixture of multipurpose glue and Stampin’ Dimensionals to stick the flowers down, and ensure you stick a couple over the top of the jar to ensure that this is stuck securely to the card.
To complete the card, stamp a banner from the Banners for You bundle in Melon Mambo ink and cut it out with the coordinating die. You could stamp one of the sentiments from this bundle inside the banner if you prefer, but I used the “It’s Your Day” sentiment from the Big on Birthdays stamp set instead.
