Oooohhhh, I was so excited on Tuesday to get the news that Stampin’ Up have added EVEN MORE items that you can get for free with a £45.00 spend during the last few days of Sale-a-Bration!! You have to hurry though, there are only 6 days left – it finishes on Friday! Today’s Sketch Sunday project uses the lovely Party Animal Designer Series Paper that is one of the new Sale-a-Bration items – I love it – the colours are so bold and I love a bit of Emerald Envy!
Today’s sketch comes from Basic Grey
I chose this sketch because it allowed me to show off a variety of the lovely papers from the Party Animal pack – I couldn’t choose just one!!
The card base is made from an A5 piece of Emerald envy cardstock, scored down the middle and folded in half. The strips of DSP are 2″ high, laid along the bottom of the card, with a skinny strip of black card and a 1/2″ strip of DSP laid across the top, creating a smooth finish along the top of the paper pieces.
The Happy Birthday stamp is sold as an individual stamp (the link is below) and is a great statement on the front of the card. I cut this out with the largest of the Stitched Oval Framelits. However, I used a special technique as the stamped image is a little bigger than the die – I placed the die over the sentiment and drew with a pencil around the inside of the oval. I then cut around any parts of the sentiment that overhangs this pencil line just down the the pencil line. When you lay the die over the sentiment to cut it out, just pull the little overhanging bits that you’ve cut over the top of your die, and then the die won’t cut through these and your sentiment will look like the one in the image. I then backed the sentiment with a piece of black cardstock cut with the largest layering oval die with the scalloped edge.
I hope you enjoyed today’s project – check out the shopping list below to buy the products used to make it.
