Happy Sunday! And welcome to another Sketch Sunday project – today’s project is a handmade birthday card using the Pieces and Patterns Designer Series Paper from the new catalogue.
I designed the Sketch Sunday series because sometimes when you’re having a day when you need some inspiration, taking someone else’s layout any putting your own twist on it is a great way to get your mojo back, so I wanted to share with you some of my creations using other people’s sketches to inspire you to do the same. Today’s sketch comes from Lisa Hidy and can be found on my Card Sketches/Templates Pinterest Board along with loads of other sketches.
To create your card blank take an A5 piece of Thick Whisper White cardstock and score and fold it in half. Cut a piece of Basic Black cardstock and cut it down to 1/4″ smaller each way than your card front. Then, cut a piece of Crumb Cake cardstock down to 1/8″ smaller either way than the black cardstock.
Take the bubbles stamp from the Pieces and Patterns stamp set and stamp it all over the Crumb Cake cardstock in Crumb Cake ink. Then take the thicker of your two journalling pens and create a dashed line around the edge of your cardstock.
Cut a piece of Emerald Envy cardstock with your largest stitched shape framelit die and layer it on top of a piece of black cardstock cut with your largest scalloped circle die.
Cut out the three critters from your Pick a Pattern Designer Series Paper. Then, cut 3 strips, all different lengths, the longest one from the floral paper from your DSP pack, and the other two from Flirty Flamingo cardstock. Trim the ends with your Triple Banner Punch.
Stamp the Happy Birthday sentiment from the Big on Birthdays stamp set in Basic Black ink onto Whisper White cardstock. Trim it down and then layer it on top of a piece of Basic Black cardstock 1/8″ larger each way than the sentiment strip. Layer everything up to finish the card, popping the sentiment, the stag and the fox up on Stampin’ Dimensionals.
