Good Morning!
Welcome to another Sketch Sunday! Today I’m sharing the card I made for my Dad’s 60th Birthday using the Urban Underground paper and the Large Letters dies. I love this paper pack because it makes it so easy to make masculine looking cards!
Today’s sketch comes from Karen Giron
I chose this layout because I knew I wanted to use the Large Numbers dies to make my Dad’s card and it gave plenty of space for them.
Instructions:
I made a card blank by cutting a piece of Basic Grey cardstock in half and scoring it down the middle. Next I cut pieces from two of the Delightful Dijon coloured papers from the Urban Underground paper pack; one measuring 3 3/4″ x 3 3/8″ for the top and the other measuring 3 3/4″ x 2″ for the bottom and attached these to the card with Fast Fuse.
For the numbers, I used my Big Shot to cut “60” out of a Silver Foil Sheet and attached them to a circle of Basic Grey paper that I cut using the largest Stitched Circle Framelit Die. To create the sentiment banners I cut a 1cm stripe of Basic Grey cardstock and then used the Number of Years stamp set (which matches the Large Numbers Framelit Dies) to heat emboss “Happy”, “Th” and “Birthday” using Versamark ink and the Silver Embossing Powder. I then cut down the strip and used the banner punch to trim the ends of each word.
To create the banner that runs down the page, I cut a 1 1/2″ strip of Urban Underground DSP, trimmed the end with the banner punch, and then ran it through the Big Shot in the Hexagon Embossing Folder to create some texture. Tip: As this embossing folder is so thick, spray your paper with a little water before embossing to create a deep impression and ensure your paper doesn’t crack!
I then assembled the card and finished it off with a few of the Urban Underground Embellishments. My Dad loved it!
As always you can find almost 200 different layouts on my Card Sketches/Templates Pinterest board to inspire you! I’ve also included a shopping list below in case you want to purchase any of the items I’ve used to make today’s card.
