Good Morning Crafters!! How are you this morning? Today I’m sharing an exciting sneak peek into the Bird Ballad suite – one of my favourite suites from the new Annual Catalogue from Stampin’ Up that launches on Tuesday (4th June). It’s a beautiful suite full of bird and floral images and it comes with a set of gorgeous nested label dies. The dies are particularly great because they also leave a stitched line around the “waste” piece, so you can use them to create some lovely stitched apertures too.
I created two versions of this card, one with black outlines, and one with grey to give a more subtle effect – which do you prefer?
Tutorial – Bird Ballad Card
To create your card blank, score and fold an A5 piece of Thick Whisper White cardstock in half. Then cut a piece of Pool Party cardstock 1/2″ smaller than your card front, and a piece of Whisper White cardstock 1/4″ smaller than that.
Stamp the large bird image onto your Whisper White layer, using either Black Memento Ink or Gray Granite ink, depending on which of the card styles you prefer. Colour the images with your Stampin’ Blends (I used the Bronze for the branch, the Soft Suede duo, the Poppy Parade duo and the Dark Daffodil delight for the birds, the Granny Apple Green duo for the leaves and the Flirty Flamingo duo for the flowers. I then outlined the image with the Pool Party Duo, using the dark colour next to the image and a layer of the light colour around that).
Stamp your “Thank You” sentiment in the colour you stamped your birds onto a scrap piece of Whisper White cardstock and cut around it with the Stitched Nested Label Die that best fits.
Add your sentiment to your bird panel with Stampin’ Dimensionals, then stick the panel to the Pool Party cardstock Layer. Add it to your card front using Stampin’ Dimensionals.
Please note that although I have added a shopping list below, the Free as a Bird bundle won’t be available until 4th June.
