Good Morning Crafters!! We’ve definitely seen a change in the seasons here; it’s now decidedly more Autumnal; definitely good crafting weather!! I bought the Candy Cane Season stamp set with tags in mind; I always have to be able to think of several ways to use a stamp set or bundle before I can justify buying it, and with this set the ideas for tags just kept on coming because there are so many cute little images!! So this is the first of what I’m sure will be a series of posts of Candy Cane Season tags. I think these ones with the corrugated card in the background are pretty cute!!

Tutorial – Candy Cane Christmas Tags

This tag, as with most of the tags I make, starts with a 2″ x 4″ piece of cardstock and the beautiful Tag Topper Punch. This is my most used punch because it makes beautiful Tag bases in seconds. For this tag, I’ve taken a 2″ x 4″ piece of Shaded Spruce cardstock, backed it with a piece of Whisper White cardstock the same size, then used the Tag Topper Punch to create a decorative top. I then squeezed my Wink of Stella pen a little to get more ink in the brush and flicked it at the tag to create some glittery splashes.

To create the Candy Cane and the bow, I punched the shapes out of Whisper White cardstock, then stamped the stripey and outline images of the candy cane onto the candy cane shape in Poppy Parade ink, and then the bow images onto the bow shape in Shaded Spruce ink. You can stamp and then punch the images but with this particular image I found it easier to punch the images first. I finished the bow by adding an enamel dot from the Santa’s Workshop Enamel shapes and a little Wink of Stella – can you make it out in the picture? It can be hard to see but it definitely adds something in person.

Next I embossed a strip of Crumb Cake cardstock just under 2 inches wide with the Corrugated Embossing Folder. I tore this into small strips and added one of them to my tag, with the candy cane and the bow added on top. To complete the tag, I added some Poppy Parade Stripey ribbon through the hole.

I made a couple of variations to this Candy Cane Season tag which can be seen by clicking right on the main image – I used the holly sprig as opposed to the bow on a couple of them.

I hope you enjoyed this project. Click the links below to shop the products used to make it.
