One-Layer card created by UK Stampin' Up Demonstrator Sarah Phelan fron Sarah's Stampin' Retreat using the Celebrate Sunflowers stamp set from Stampin Up
Hello Crafters! How are you today? It’s definitely starting to feel Autumnal here but these Sunflowers have brightened up my day! I challenged myself to make a one-layer card. It’s something I don’t do very often but it puts me out of my comfort zone so it’s a good thing to do from time-to-time. It was also a lovely way of using the small sunflower from the Celebrate Sunflowers stamp set.
I’d love you to leave me a comment below telling me what you do to get out of your crafty comfort zone – maybe we can do some together?!
Celebrate Sunflowers Cling Stamp Set (English) [152517] £22.00
To create your card blank, score and fold a 10″ x 5″ piece of Crumb Cake cardstock in half.
Decide where you want the sunflower to sit on your wreath, and stamp it in Early Espresso ink onto your card. Then, stamp it again onto a piece of masking sheet or a post-it note. Cut out the flower on the masking sheet and place it over the one on your card, then stamp the two leaves so that they overlap the sunflower a little. Create a mask for the leaves as well and place them over the images on your card, then stamp the circle from the Swirly Shapes stamp set over to create the wreath. Stamp your sentiment inside the wreath, then create a border of sunflowers and leaves around the outside of your card.
Use your Watercolour pencils (without water, just like normal colouring pencils) to colour the images. I used Bermuda Bay and Old Olive for the leaves, using the Bermuda Bay to add some depth of colour where there are a lot of lines on the leaf, then I used Early Espresso for the flower center, and Pumpkin Pie and Daffodil Delight for the petals. I also coloured a little around the sentiment with the white pencil to help it to stand out a bit.
