Hello Crafters! How are you today? A sympathy card is never one that anyone’s going to want to have to make, but I think that on the unfortunate occasion that you have to send one, a handmade one really adds a sense of caring. But this card could be changed to be suitable for any occasion by just changing the sentiment! I think it would make a lovely birthday or thank you card as well.
The key products that I’ve used to create today’s card are the Prized Peony Stamps and dies and the coordinating Peony Garden DSP (patterned paper) and the lovely Rectangular Postage Stamp Punch that I used to create the background and the sentiment.

Tutorial – Prized Peony Handmade Sympathy Card
To create your card base, score and fold an A5 (5 7/8″ x 8 1/4″) piece of Basic Gray Cardstock in half.
Cut 6 rectangles from pieces of Peony Garden DSP and arrange them on a separate piece of Basic Gray cardstock measuring 4 1/4″ across, then trim the top and bottom of the cardstock so that you just have a small border around the edge of the punched pieces.
Cut 2 small strips of Smoky Slate cardstock measuring 4 1/4″ across and glue these behind the top and bottom of the cardstock so that you just have a thin strip showing above and below, then glue this to the front of your card.
Punch another postage stamp rectangle from Basic Gray cardstock and heat emboss your sentiment with white embossing powder. [Not sure how to heat emboss? View my video tutorial HERE]
Die-cut the second largest Stitched Nested Label from Basic Gray Cardstock, then stamp the large peony from your Prized Peony stamp set in Memento Black ink onto a scrap piece of Whisper White Cardstock. Colour the peony with your Stampin’ Blends, then cut it out with the coordinating die.
Add all of the elements to your card using Stampin’ Dimensionals (double sided foam pads).
