Good Morning Crafters!! I hope you’re having a lovely week so far!! Today’s card is actually one that I created for a class that I did for a lovely group of new mothers that wanted a private class at one of their homes. It looks more complicated than it is; none of them had ever stamped before but they did a great job with this card! It uses the very versatile Beautiful Bouquet stamp set, stamped as silhouettes against a background made from brayering just two colours of ink with our lovely sponge brayers.
If you live around London and would like to arrange a private class for you and your friends, please contact me through the contact form on the contact page – there are a variety of very affordable options that you can choose from.
Tutorial – Beautiful Bouquet Silhouette Handmade Card
To create the card base, score and fold a 10″ x 7″ piece of Basic Black card in half.
Cut a piece of Gold Foil sheet 1/4″ smaller than your card front, then cut another black layer measuring 4″x6″ and a piece of Whisper White cardstock 1/4″ smaller than that.
To create the ombre effect, take your sponge roller and roll it over your Daffodil Delight ink pad several times until you can see ink on the roller. Then, starting at the bottom of your piece of Whisper White cardstock, roll the roller back and forth across the cardstock, going a little further up the cardstock with each pass until you run out of ink on the roller. Repeat this until you have a depth of colour you’re happy with, always starting at the bottom of the cardstock so that the colour here is darker.
Repeat this process going from the top of the cardstock down with Lovely Lipstick ink, making sure that the two colours overlap in the middle to create a blended effect.
The next step is to stamp some stalks, leaves and flowers from the Beautiful Bouquet stamp set across the bottom of your card in Black Momento ink. This will create the effect of flowers silhouetted in the sunset.
To complete your card, add a strip of Basic Black cardstock 3/4″ wide across the top of your card, then use your embossing buddy to wipe over a scrap piece of Basic Black Cardstock to remove any unwanted fingerprints, etc. that embossing powder may stick to. Stamp the “Happy Birthday” sentiment from the Beautiful Bouquet stamp set in Versamark ink, then pour Glod Embossing powder over the top. Tip off the excess and heat with the heat tool to melt. Cut out the sentiment using the layering oval die that fits around it, then cut the scalloped oval that fits around it out of Gold Foil sheet.
For the inside of the card, cut a piece of Whisper White cardstock 1/4″ smaller than your card front, then stamp one of the flowers from the stamp set in the corner to decorate.
