Have you ever made a shaker card? I didn’t try for ages as I thought it looked complicated, but it’s much easier than it looks, and this Birthday Shaker Card is a great one to start with as it’s super simple.
To begin, create a card blank from an A5 piece of Thick Whisper White cardstock. Cut a piece of Night of Navy Cardstock 1/4″ smaller each way than your card front, and then another piece of Whisper White 1/4″ smaller than this.
Cut the “Happy” word from the Hello You thinlit dies out of the centre of your piece of white cardstock. Stamp the “Birthday” word from the Crazy About You stamp set that coordinates with the dies underneath the “Happy” in Night of Navy ink. Cut a piece of Window sheet big enough to cover over your “Happy” and stick it to the back of your white cardstock over the die-cut hole. Stampin’ Up have created Foam Adhesive strips for when you need extra height on a project, and these are great for shaker cards. Stick the adhesive strips around the outside of the “Happy” and then more around the edge of the piece of cardstock. Run your embossing buddy around the edges of the adhesive strips to remove any extra stickiness, then put some sequins into the section where your “Happy” is.
Take the backing off your adhesive strips and put your piece of Night of Navy cardstock over the back of the window, sealing off your shaker. Add the shaker piece to your card front and you’re done!!
