Peony Garden Handmade Birthday Card

Hello Crafters! How are you today? The card I’m sharing with you uses lots of elements from the new Peony Garden suite. I decided to join in this week’s sketch challenge from Freshly Made Sketches and this is what I came up with. Have you ever used a sketch to come up with a card? I’d love to see your projects if you decide to use this one – you could post them on my Facebook page or tag me on Instagram. This is this week’s sketch.

Tutorial – Peony Garden Handmade Birthday Card

Create a card blank by scoring and folding a 5″ x 10″ piece of Basic Gray cardstock in half. Then, cut a 4 3/4″ square of Peony Garden Designer Series Paper and add it to the front of your card.

Use the largest square from your stitched square dies to cut a square out in both Petal Pink and Basic Grey Cardstock. Glue the two squares together with the pink one on top, offsetting them so that corners of the grey one show underneath, then add them to your card.

Stamp the large peony from the Prized Peony stamp set onto Whisper White cardstock with Black Memento ink. Cut it out using the coordinating die and add it to your card using Stampin’ Dimensionals (adhesive foam pads).

Heat emboss the sentiment (I used the Happy Birthday from the Best Year stamp set) using white embossing powder on Basic Gray cardstock, then cut it out using one of the stitched rectangle dies. [I have a beginner’s tutorial for heat embossing if you’re not sure how – linked here]
