Good Morning Crafters!! Today I decided to play along with a sketch challenge. Have you tried one before? I think it’s a great way to inspire you when you’ve lost a bit of mojo, or to push you out of your comfort zone if you always make the same type of card, or just to have some fun!!
The sketch I chose is from Freshly Made Sketches and it’s pictured below. As soon as I saw this sketch I knew I wanted to use the Animal Outing suite (don’t ask why, I have no idea, it just really spoke to me!!). So that’s what I did – the tutorial’s below if you want to have a go, or why not come up with your own card using the below Freshly Made Sketch?!!
Tutorial – Animal Outing Thank You Card
To create your card blank, score and fold an A5 piece of Call Me Clover cardstock in half. Cut a piece of the leafy Animal Outing patterned paper 1/4″ smaller than your card front and stick it to the front of your card.
Cut a rhinoceros out of one of the pieces of paper with the large animals on it – I used the coordinating die to do this but if you don’t have them you could cut it out with a pair of sharp scissors. Place this on a piece of Call Me Clover cardstock cut out with the largest circle from your Stitched Shapes Framelits dies.
To create the sentiment, stamp “Thank You Big Time” from the Animal Outing stamp set in black memento ink onto Whisper White cardstock, then use the rectangle from the swirly frames stamp set to frame the words. Cut this out with your trimmer. Cut a strip of Gray Granite cardstock around 2″ longer than your sentiment piece and cut a notch out of each end (the triple banner punch is a great way to do this if you have it, if not just use scissors!). Place this on your circle under the rhino, and place the sentiment on top using Stampin’ Dimensionals to lift it up.
Place this topper on your card using Stampin’ Dimensionals and finish with a couple of leaves cut using your Animal Outing dies from Call Me Clover cardstock.
To create a nice place to write your message inside the card, stamp the branch with the frog on it in Gray Granite ink onto some Whisper White cardstock cut to 1/4″ smaller than your card front and place this inside your card.
